Walmart, Inc., (Wal-Mart until 2008) is an American multinational department store company. The company was elected the largest multinational of 2010. It was founded by Sam Walton in 1962, incorporated on October 31, 1969, and listed on the New York Stock Exchange in 1972. Wal-Mart is headquartered in Bentonville, Arkansas. Walmart is the largest retail store in the United States. In 2009, the multinational generated 51% of its US$258 billion in sales in its US grocery business. Walmart also operates Sam's Club in North America and select countries, including Brazil.
